On October 17, 2026, elections will be held for Mayor, eight City Councillors and seven school trustees for a four-year term. The election of school trustees who sit on the ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ is organized by the City of ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ to coincide with the elections for Mayor and City Council.

The ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ is made up of seven elected school trustees. The Board’s primary function is to establish procedures and guidelines for the operation of public schools within the Burnaby School District.
In accordance with the , the Board is responsible for producing a budget, administering expenditures, and liaising with individual schools through the School Trustee Liaison Program.
